Where warehouse walls become your room
Wharfstone Hotel occupies two sandstone warehouses on Salamanca Place - number 25, built in 1841 by Bernard Walford, and number 39, built in 1832 by Thomas Hewitt. The original rafters, ironwork, and Georgian character of both buildings are beautifully preserved across our heritage rooms.

WHAT GUESTS SAY
Notes from recent stays
A few words guests have shared with our team after checking out.
Fantastic position and a surprisingly quiet room given how lively Salamanca gets outside. The service from check-in onward was excellent.
The team went out of their way for us - arranging an early taxi and forwarding a bag we left behind to our next stop, with a call to confirm it was on its way.
Woke up on Saturday to the market stalls going up right outside. The bed was excellent and the heated bathroom floor was a lovely touch after a cold Hobart morning.
CONSIDERED DESIGN
Built with heritage conservation in mind
Every part of Wharfstone Hotel was shaped by a deliberate, restrained brief: preserve what the two sandstone warehouses already had, and add only what a modern stay genuinely needs.
The result comes from close collaboration between a Hobart heritage-conservation studio and an independent brand and interiors designer, working alongside local artists and makers. Every decision - from the preserved rafters to the hand-painted tiles - was made to honour what these buildings already were.

25 SALAMANCA PLACE
Step outside and Hobart opens up
Salamanca Market, the waterfront, galleries, and some of Hobart's best restaurants are all within a short walk of the hotel.
Stay in the heritage heart of Salamanca Place, with the city at your feet and a quieter room waiting when the day is done.
